Intro to Hand Built Ceramics  
IT'S NOW TIME TO REGISTER FOR THE NEXT SEMESTER !!


8 weeks, 2 1/2 hour classes, from 7PM to 9:30PM

This course is geared towards teenagers and adults who want to learn how to work with clay. No previous experience or special knowledge is required. Throughout the duration of the course you will learn how to transform clay using various traditional manufacturing techniques  such as modeling, coiling, pinched pots and slab built. Your instructor, Nicolas Ouellet, will provide you with a demonstration at the start of each course. Furthermore, a variety of ready-made pieces found in the workshop can be used as a source of inspiration. Students will also learn different decorating methods. The instructor will run the firing of the pieces. Afterwards students can apply a glaze and the instructor will bake the final product. Students can then keep the pieces they have created.

Cost: $ 300 (+ taxes) all included (20 hours of classes plus 8 hours of studio work) 

All other tools will be provided at no extra cost



Pottery Wheel Classes: 

This private course will teach you how to work clay using a pottery wheel. Students will learn to knead the clay and to center and mount cylindrical walls. Once the technique of centering is understood, you will explore different forms such as bowls, vases and plates.

You will learn to make the trimming (finishing the foot of the piece) and familiarize yourself with different decorating techniques. During these courses you will learn to shape and glaze pottery.

* This course is given weekday evenings at 7PM.

Materials: Clay and glaze. All other necessary tools will be provided. The clay must be purchased on site.
